Drizzly Sunday Daybook

Due to the fact that I've very little time or inspiration to write long, philosophical blog posts nowadays, I thought I'd begin a short and simple series of daybooks. With any luck, they'll keep me writing (and keep the blog alive) without being too time-consuming.

Outside my window.....
The last of the autumn leaves are coming down, the weather can't quite make up its mind, it's COLD and the sun occasionally peeks out to remind us it does still exist.

I am thankful for.....
My beautiful mother, who, in the midst of my stress-related emotional breakdown yesterday, offered to pray the rosary with me. Immediately calmed and motivated by it, I returned with a happy heart to the mountain of schoolwork strangling me.

I am thinking about......
Katrina and Katie, who arrive home on midyear break from NET in about ten minutes!!!!!! I'm very excited. I've missed them a LOT!

Learning all the time.......
Trying not to let school interfere with learning. Remembering that experiences, interest and joy are more beneficial ways of learning than textbook-style. And yet attempting to juggle three research internals, two in-class internals, scholarship and extracurriculars. Kind of contradictory.

On my nightstand......

  • The Bible. :-)
  • Peter Kreeft's Because God is Real. It's incredible!
  • Pope Joan, for my history assignment (and 'cause it's a great novel!)
  • Emma, by Jane Austen. My little historical delight that I've been plodding through for weeks in between other books.

I am creating......
A special gift for a special person.

I am working on.......
Not procrastinating. Doing my schoolwork instead of writing blog posts. Managing stress better. Not crying at stupid things. Remembering to wear socks instead of walking around with cold feet all the time.

I am praying.....

  • For the Sealys, who are going through a difficult transition after their move back to the States, that the Lord may bless them abundantly with peace and grace, and that He will provide a job for them.
  • For unborn children- listened to a Pro-Life Apologetics talk as I was going to sleep last night. Every day, four times as many (100,000 vs 25,000) children die of abortion than poverty/hunger. It's heartbreaking. That all mothers may realise the beauty of the life growing inside of them and will recognise the dignity of the unborn child.
  • For perspective. And peace.

I am hearing......
The Epcot soundtrack, for about the sixth time in two days. I don't know why, but it seems to motivate me, so I just keep pressing the repeat button on the stereo.

One of my favourite things.....
My new haircut. I love playing with it- it's so short and fluffy. And apparently I look like my mum. Can't figure out if that's a good thing or not!

Plans for the rest of the week......
One-and-a-half days of actual school. Aquinas Day (celebrations, fun and games, no schoolwork, yipee!). Two and a half days in Rotorua for a choral competition. Hot pools tonight. Katie and Katrina!!!!! Maybe do some work. Sing. Dance. Live.

Quote of the moment.....
"The age we're living in is the most extraordinary the world has ever seen. The human species is still reaching for the stars. Today we are the shapers of the world of tomorrow. Often we can't explain what we see, but the era we're living in today is a dream coming true." Walt Disney

A picture I am sharing with you.......

Because I'm missing REAL winter. New Zealand winter is kind-of pathetic. It's cold, sure, but no snow. Pretty snow. I miss the snow.

  1. wow kate - that is a sobering and powerful statistic on abortion. I didn't know that. I agree 5897438957% about the lack of snow in NZ and I am very excited to see a photo of this new haircut! I'll check out Rich's FB and see if it's there. Have a BLAST with the NET girls!

    1. Kelly! So exciting to hear from you! Hope all's well and good there. At the moment I'm on sabbatical from Facebook (I banned myself in the effort to actually get some work done!), but maybe the next blog post might have a photo... who knows?
Give the littlies a big hug from me! (have they forgotten us yet? haha)
      God Bless,
      Kate x
