Guide before leaving Earth

A quote from the first pages of my pocket Gideon bible:

The Bible contains the mind of God, the state of man, the way of salvation, the doom of sinners and the happiness of believers. Read it to be wise, believe it to be safe and practice it to be holy. It contains light to direct you, food to support you and comfort to cheer you.
It is the traveler's map, the pilgrim's staff, the pilot's compass, the soldier's sword and the Christian's charter. Christ is its grand subject, our good the design and the glory of God its end
It should fill the memory, rule the heart and guide the feet.
Read it slowly, frequently, and prayerfully.
It is given you in life, will be opened at the judgement and be remembered forever.

Oftentimes it is in the Bible alone that one can find solace. In a world filled with sin and deceit, the Bible is the little book you can turn to for the word of God and for truth. I can't claim to have read it all. I probably can't even claim I know a lot of what's in it. But I know this: the Bible is the word of God, spoken through the prophets and the saints, in a pure and untainted form. The Bible is comforting, it is guiding and it is supportive. In times of doubt, I know that God will always guide my heart and my mind with His Word. The Bible really is our only clue as to how we should live our lives in a good and holy manner. It's our ultimate guide before departing this world. The Bible tells of God's love, of His truth and of our moral obligation as sons and daughters of God.

A way, in my mind, of deciphering God's plan for us is to play Bible roulette: flip through randomly, put your finger on a verse and read and take heed. Only occasionally will you end up with something that is not applicable or inspirational to you life.
Just now: "Then little children were brought to Him that He might put His hands on them and pray."

Maybe that's God telling me that I need to stop stressing about everything in my life (EXAMS!), return to a childlike innocence and trust in His love.

I'm going to leave you with a final peace of wisdom (and yes, I know it's meant to be "piece" but I prefer "peace") from Saint Paul: "I pray that the eyes of your heart will be opened to see his light, so that you will know what is the hope to which he has called you, how rich are his wonderful blessings he has promised, and how very great is his power at work in us who believe."

Through the intercession of Mary our mother,
Yours in Christ,
Kate
