Idle hands

I'm increasingly aware of the truth in the saying "Idle hands do the devil's work" or however it goes. Nothing good comes from boredom. God intends for us to stay busy and work hard so as to avoid temptation. Of the seven deadly sins, I'm pretty sure most of them stem from boredom:

First and most obvious: Sloth. When we're bored, we're inclined to laze about and revel in nothingness. I know I do this often. Sorry God, I'll work on it.

Gluttony: How often do we eat purely because we have nothing better to do?

Greed: If we keep busy and appreciate what we've work for, we're less susceptible to greed and the desire of power, wealth or status.

Wrath: I'm not sure if this applies to everyone, but I know that when I am bored and purposeless, I become increasingly mad and frustrated with those around me.

Envy: On the same track as greed, if we are good and hard workers, we're less inclined to be jealous of things that others have, for we recognize our own blessings.

Pride: Alright, stretching it slightly, but when we are bored, we're inclined to revel in selfish thoughts and self-'improvement'.

Lust: Okay, not too sure how it links to boredom, but I'm certain it somehow does....

But you get my point. Boredom leaves us in a state of listlessness, idleness and sinfulness. Boredom draws us away from God and His will and towards a nature of sin.
Therefore to be good and holy people we must always keep busy, never let our hands be idle, and let our minds be always on God. We must live in a spirit of

Diligence
Temperance
Charity
Patience
Kindness
Humility
and Chastity.

And I will strive to do so.
